J.PERIOD’s acclaimed DJ and performance series, THE LIVE MIXTAPE, is just that: a genre-bending musical mixtape, performed and recorded live on stage - in one take - by some of hip hop’s most celebrated artists, and one of its most groundbreaking DJs.
In each venue, The Live Mixtape transforms the traditional hip hop stage show as a collaborative “mixtape” – a high-energy, improvisational performance that elevates the creativity of every artist on stage. That might mean lyrical legends like Common and Mos Def trading freestyle rhymes; it might mean De La Soul gets merged with Marvin Gaye, or Black Thought with a Kendrick Lamar beat. And it all happens live. That’s the magic of The Live Mixtape.
